Demo Day:

Please join us on Friday, April 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Indoor Quad of the Curry Student Center at Northeastern University to celebrate the newest student run startups emerging from the Husky Innovation Challenge (HIC).  Demo Day is a science-fair style exposition, where the newly minted Northeastern startups will be showcasing their ventures and sharing their remarkable achievements with the University and Boston community!

The Competition:

The HIC, developed by students for students, was founded to support student entrepreneurs as they create and launch viable businesses.  Highlighting the growth of entrepreneurship at Northeastern, the HIC has helped ten ventures formulate their businesses this semester.  Many of the ventures have already signed up customers!

The event will bring together members of the Northeastern Community to recognize the accomplishments of the student ventures.  Food and drinks will be provided while the teams showcase models and prototypes of their ventures with impressive exhibitions.  

Awards:

Judges will be anonymous to the contestants and will evaluate the competing ventures for five different $1,000 awards.  The categories include:

• Game Changer 

A venture that has found a unique way to solve a problem and has the potential to completely change the industry in which it will be launched.

• Sustainable Venture

 Awarded to the venture with the most sustainable business strategy outlined. Will they be  around in the next couple of years? Do they have a solid competitive advantage?

• Audience Favorite

 Awarded to the audience favorite by text message voting system.

• Time to Market

 Venture that is most likely to launch in the near future.

• Best Presentation

 The venture who knows their product, their target market, and their value and can                                sell it like no other!
